Sony A7 II is one of the most affordable full-frame digital cameras. But it’s definitely not a stripped-down starter model. The camera has all the features that make the second-generation A7 cameras so popular: built-in image stabilization, good autofocus, fold-out display screen, many setting options, and programmable buttons. And of course, a full-frame sensor in an extremely small body. The 24-megapixel sensor can produce images with high sharpness and great dynamic range, also in low light. One of the advantages of Sony mirrorless cameras is the ability to use almost any third party lens (via a separate mount), enabling photographers to take advantage of Sony’s class-leading camera technology with some of the world’s best glass.

Why Get a New Lens?

Assuming you have at least one lens for it already, your camera can take photos. But there are reasons to buy a new one. The most basic is to change your perspective. Ultra-wide lenses capture huge swaths of the globe, and macro optics can hone in on the tiniest details.

Prime lenses often open to f/1.4 or f/2, and if you use them at those settings you’ll be able to capture pictures with blurred backgrounds.

There’s a whole army of A7 series digital cameras out there, but the Sony A7 II gives you the very best of both worlds (from R and S versions).
